Lauria Rose's first collection is inspired by twelve different mental disorders. Psychology has always interested her. From an early age Lauria’s entire life had revolved around illness. Although it may not have been that of a mental state, all she knew was how the illness and death of those around her affected those that she loved. For much of her adult life her mother had been in and out of the hospital, from age sixteen she was her mother's care taker. Her grandmother, Ellen Pascuzzi began to show signs of Alzheimer’s when she was around the age of eight and by ten her grandmother had completely forgot who she was. Having a single mother required her to be at home with her ill grandmother for most of the day. She recalls her forgetting how to eat and when closer to her death, forgetting how to swallow and even speak. These experiences forced the now designer to mature well beyond her years.
